RBS Visa Debit - help please

Hi
Can someone please help here?
I have a RBS instant access account with a Visa debit card. I made a large purchase over the telephone for £3900. I have received the goods and £3900 has been debited from the account. My account which had £6000 now shows Balance £2100 Available £0. When I spoke with RBS the said the reason the "available" is £0 because the company company I dealt with are expecting to debit £3900 but transaction failed due to me having insufficient funds. I explained they had already received £3900 I was told by RBS the issue lay with the company.
I contacted the company and they said they had been paid and are were not seeking any for further payment and that that the authorisation they received at time of purchase was for £3900 and it would not be possible for them to debit any more money without another authorisation.
Can someone please advise is the problem with RBS or the company? And what can I do? It is giving me grief as I cannot access any of the £2100 and I've already had a cheque bounce.
Please help.

The company. They need to call their merchant acquirer and get them to remove the authorisation, because they've authorised it twice.urs sinserly,

Authorisations tend to drop off after 4 days in my experience0 -
Hi and thanks both for the quick replies. The link henm2 sent sounds similar to whats happened to me. The one thing that surprises me is if a bank gives authorisation for a purchase to a value of , in my case, £3900 and £3800 has been debited from my account for partial supply of goods, how can the same authorisation been used for the original £3900 when there is only £100 left in the authorisation?
Should an authorisation not cap what a retailer can debit from your account rather than allowing them to debit me twice? All because they did not remove the original authorisation.

Your own bank can help in this situation i bought a laptop where the company charged me twice once because during the inital process something went wrong and then the second time it went through. Both charges can be seen by your bank explain the situation and your own bank can refund the second charge. if they refuse ask to speak to a manager. If there was a delay in the company requesting payment a second time that might cause problems as my transactions were afew seconds or minutes apart my bank realised an error had been made.0

Unfortunately there could be any number of reasons why your account is in the position it is.0
