Windows XP Repair Install With Windows XP Professional CD?

Is it possible to do a Windows XP Repair Install With Windows XP Professional CD?

I imagine not, as i will be using my old product key code from my Windows XP CD...

I have left my Windows XP Cd at home, and need a cd to do the repair install for me.

Basically will it replace all the windows xp files with windows xp files or with pro ones... thus needing a WinXP Pro key code?

Are you trying to repair XP Home with an XP Pro cd? If so, I'm fairly certain it won't work. If you're trying to repair XP Pro with an XP Pro cd, but just a different version (eg SP2 with SP1 cd) then it will work, but when you activate Windows again you'll have to go through the phone process because the automatic internet activation won't work (due to the fact MS used more and more sophisticated activation algorithms in the different versions of XP, eg SP0, then SP1, then SP2)
