Can't offer any advice i'm afraid......only thing I can say is that the south coast of spain has thousands of caravans / motorhomes thro the winter months.

I'm going to try something a bit complicated here ... so if it all goes pear-shaped I'll know better next time!

It seems to have worked! Hurrah!

the question about taking a dog abroad is answered here on the Pets board. I've copied the original question and the posts which don't relate to the dog back here, so that people here can concentrate on the caravanning.

You may find some advice in our sticky on Living Abroad - some of our expats are keen caravanners!

I would also look on our Travel board, there's also a motoring section, not sure where the caravanners will be!

You could take a look at www.ukcampsite.co.uk and www.caravantalk.org.uk , quite a few people on the forums there go to Spain for extended breaks.

There is also a forum on the Practical Caravan website.

Winter evenings can get quite cold in spain and it is not as cheap as you might think. Many sites do not accept dogs. Which part of spain were you thinking of? Most regions have a very informative tourist friendly web site (in english). The caravan club might be able to offer you advice.

We were thinking of going to the south hopefully it will be warmer then the north, we have only been to Spain with package holidays in the past and they where round the Costa's.
Weather wise it has got to be warmer then UK surely, (we hope) not expecting high temperatures:cool:

I was hoping to hear from someone who had already tried wintering abroad with a caravan, who perhaps would be able to direct us to web sites that would offer advice on caravan sites and those that do or don't take dogs. Maybe also what to expect regards amenities erg electric mainly as I believe their voltage is different to ours and how you would get round this or are they equipped to deal with caravans from the UK

On the coast it will be warmer than UK. However in the evening when the sun goes down the temperature will drop sharply, and the change in temperature can make it seem very cold. It will certainly be warmer in Costa Del Sol than in Costa Brava. The wind can be very strong and it does rain (occasionally). A gotta fria has to be seen to be believed. > http://www.propertysalesspain.com/photos.html

Assuming you have the proper outdoor round three pin electric socket, it will fit spanish site supply. Your UK electrical equipment will work fine. Butane and propane bottled gas is cheaper and more widely available than in the UK.

There are many sites in and around Benidorm and a great deal of info is available on the WWW e.g.> http://cd03500.tripod.com/id44.html
