Hi, I'm seeking advice on setting up a basic online shop for my product as economically as possible.
Am looking at LCN for hosting, using the opencart app for the shopping cart, but am not sure which payment gateway to use - sagepay or worldpay seem contenders but are expensive. I also need to set up basic accounts software - considering Quickbooks online. Together, these costs are mounting...
Does anyone have any knowledge/recommendations re how to do this cheaper? I've never done an online shop before any any tips from experienced ecommercers would be valued. Especially regarding integration of payment gateway and accounts software.
Thanks!!!

I recently setup an online shop for my business and it was quite cheap to do.
First of all i used Fasthosts for hosting £2.49pm (first 3 months) then £5 thereafter.
I then used a Wordpress setup with the plugin "woocommerce" to handle the e-commerce/shopping cart side of things (both of which are free)
I use Paypal as the payment gateway as it saves me paying for merchant services or payment gateways, however you can buy a plugin to allow other merchant services i think it's around £20
Not saying this is the best solution however it seems to work fine for me (just make sure if you are doing it you secure your wordpress install)
And the good thing about this setup is you are only really paying for the hosting and the small paypal fee0 -
