I am afraid that it is not always the case that being over a certain age brings the right to another bedroom.0

Just to come back an update this thread
My daughter appealed the rejection on a couple of points
1) the information they received from the council stated that she was able to claim for a two bedroom OR a three bedroom property
2) they stated the rejection was based on the changes that came into force in April however all the paperwork was submitted at the beginning of March although council mixed up and lost some of the papers - including only having one child listed rather than two
Subsequently they relooked at the case and came out yet again to inspect both properties before rejecting again because the person they were due to swap with had rent arrears (due to reduction in HB from having excess bedrooms)
Long and short and arrears paid off and the exchange went through and they moved on Monday...stressful time over0 -
Hope they are all doing well in their new home!
Great outcome and shows that it is worth querying things sometimes.0 -
