Got my ATOS results....Support Group!

Options
I have finally had the results from my IB to ESA assessment.

The good news is that I have been placed in the Support Group - which I firmly believe to be the correct decision.

There doesn't appear to be any mention of when I will be reassessed - although I may have missed that - I was in a bit of shock when the letter arrived!

Am I right in believing I no longer need to submit fit-notes?

And there is no mention that I can see of how many points I was awarded - is it possible to ask the DWP for a copy of the 'statement of reasons' without asking for an appeal (I would like to know how the decision was made - especially as they may use the same assessment when they come to reassess my DLA)

I am still considering making an official complaint (the home assessment was dire! - and the HCP incomptence personified!.....I am unwilling to go into specific details on an 'open' forum)....but need to go over the matter with my carer first....we have the decision we were hoping for and there is a part of me that doesn't want to rock the boat - after all I could be reassessed in as little as 3 months!

Thanks to all who gave me support and encouragement when I came on here in a panic (more than once!)....it was NOT a pleasant experience, but I was lucky enough to get the right decision - at least this time! (although next time I am certainly going to consider taping the assessment)

There are no points for the support group - you only need to meet one descriptor.
You cannot ask - as I understand it - for a statement of reasons if the decision was the most advantageous it could have been.
http://www.dwp.gov.uk/privacy-policy/data-protection/ - get a full copy of your entire file.
This will include both the medical report - which will have the 'prognosis' - and any other evidence they may have used.
I would recommend that everyone gets a copy of their file at least once a year, or after every significant decision.
They shred old documents, and it can be useful to refer back.

    In addition.
ATOS do not award you the support group.
They provide a report on your condition, which is usually one of the major bits of evidence used by the DWP to decide.

Congratulations - I too have just go into support group again and dont need to be reviewed for another 2 years!!

You can fone the DWP and ask for a copy of the ESA85 ATOS medical report to see what descriptor you fitted.

    Well done!!
