Good link and interesting reading however looking at the make up of there index 21% of it is down to alchol and tobacco - not really 'Essentials' are they?

Should be food, energy and water. :D Now that IS important!

Maybe I should try to calculate the Food Energy Water Index or FEW Index for short! :D

So 11% over 4 years, what 2.3% a year compounded roughly? Not up with RPI, but not too bad, better than most?

Me a 100 pound in 2009, 4 years on 106 pound.....That's not taking into consideration cost RPI inflation over the 4 years...I would be very negative if RPI was accounted for...
    We are all getting poorer....

Thought average wage inflation was about 1%, and what an instant access accounts are paying 1.6% net of 20% tax. The trend is still there.....

Real inflation what 5%, Merv tracks wages never costs, wtach rates rise if wages ever get to 4% average rises...

And the effect of the increase of public sector pension contributions?

Minus one hundred percent. Don't regret a single quid of it either!

It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.

10% compounded over last 3 years plus 1%. Was part of the team that negotiated it so very happy with the result we got despite sceptics at the time!

Not sure what jobs you're doing for £100 a week or similar - that's £5,200 a year, which is chicken feed. Are these part-time jobs?

Personally I've seen a 13% increase since 2009, so average annual inflation of 2.6%. Not brilliant but better than many by the look of it. Bonuses have improved year on year too.

:p I think KingKenny meant proportionally rather than literally £100.
