Hi all,
I'll be moving to Swindon from sunny ole Ireland in the next month and need to get somewhere to live.
I resent letting agents as often I've found you get little or no protection or service for the associated costs.
Does anyone know where is the best place to go therefore to talk directly to a landlord and find a property outside of the agents circle?
Thanks
H

So gumtree?
You would have thought there would have been a forum or website specifically for independent landlords - but thanks ill have a look0 -
Private landlord directory.com
The only portal for private landlords only. You can advertise free and download landlords details free .You can post your request on their facebook pages too.
Gumtree is good once again download free information but agents list as private to try and trick tenants a lot of the time but there are lots of genuine landlords on there.
Also look for Facebook groups there are a lot
look at the Residential landlords association website some of its members me included list on their free service .
And finaly news agents/supermarket noticeboards and word of mouth still a good old faithfull in my mind
Hope this helps0 -
Gumtree are bad for letting agents list as private ,book a viewing with them give a different name when they ring to confirm the viewing confirm it then don't turn up then repeat again and again ! this is the only way that will get through to their stupid heads that when we search for a private landlord we actualy WANT a private landlord
Just make them burn their petrol0 -

I had a look through the privatelandlorddirectory - but couldn't fin a thing for Swindon.
But, all the other advice is fantastic!! Thank you so much
I've also noticed that issue with gumtree too!! Trickster agents.
The more I read about them the more I resent them. I mean £130 for a credit check that costs £5!!!!!!
How on earth do they justify it?0
