I have received notice from Thomson today that the Cape Verde Government have brought in a tax beginning next month to all passengers which has to be paid on arriving which will be between £2-20 per day per person! On ringing Thomson they said they cant tell me how much it will be exactly as they have no more info on it , but should know nearere the time of departure, till we are ready to fly..They must think people are stupid that they will pay the balance on the holiday without knowing about this tax!.I am not prepared to wait for that and would sooner lose my deposit, Thomson don't seem much bothered, has anyone else heard this or know more

It's happening on most european cities as well. Not a lot Thomson or any of us can do about it as it is a local city tax.0

Does it not seem an overreaction, to cancel the holiday and lose your deposit, over something the operator has no control over?
You do realise you pay far more to our own government, just to get on the plane?0 -
Simple response is never to go there again.0
