I've fallen in love with a blue lace dress from Monsoon - but it costs over £100 0 DH suggested I get it in the sale (if it's in my size) but as she's not getting married til next June I'm wary about buying one that fits now & won't next year (hopefully too big)
My friend got married two years ago & her mother-in-law wore a top & trousers & looked like she'd walked in off the street, She also scowled all the way through the ceremony ( but my friend says she hated anyone paying attention to her & she wanted to blend into the background but she stood out like a sore thumb)proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0 -
Have you thought about going to a personal shopper? Lots of big department stores (Debenhams, John Lewis etc) do it, usually for free - you just pay for what if anything you buy - and you can find some really lovely things in there. My mum used personal shoppers for my sisters' weddings and got really nice outfits both times that weren't at all MoB-y so it's definitely worth looking at. Quite a few of the big shopping centres offer something similar but in my experience they're more likely to charge, although some do do it for free.
Or what about hiring something? There's a website called Girl Meets Dress which hires out designer dresses for around £50-80 as well as accessories and hats - so not fantastically cheap but it might well counteract the issue of someone wearing the same thing than if you were to buy from a high street store. Thanks for everyone's help.
I have decided that I want a long dress but would like a sleeve which seems to be an unusual thing in a long dress. Went to House of Fraser and Debenhams on Friday and didn't see much. HoF customer service is awful, I was totally ignored by staff even when I was shouting excuse me. Am going to stick to small local shops to try and get a dress. Going to the Lakes and London this year so might look for shops in those areas. Have seem one dress I really like but not keen on the colour of it.0
