Well thank you all sooooo much, these ideas are excellent, I just didn't know there were just so many ways of saving money ! Don't let the fact that you don't have any money stop you either !!

I'm fairly optimistic that we will have something to sit on when we do move in !

Have a look if there is a showhouse furniture clearence warehouse in your area. We have one near us and we have had some great deals. Basically they clear showhomes and sell it to the public. Obviously what they sell is dependent on fashion, so if you want a black leather suite and pink is all the rage, you could be out of luck

Another piece of advice is to ask around family and friends - its amazing how often you get something and someone you know says - "oh I just got rid of one of those" or "I have one of them to get rid of"!
