Does anyone know of a good, cheap and reliable data recovery company?
My hard drive has stopped working and I need to recover the data from the drive.
Thanks in advance.

Data recovery isn't cheap so consider how much you really need it (and, wait for it... back up next time!). What exactly is wrong with the drive? If it's the controller then my advice would be to find another IDENTICAL drive (and by that I mean same make, same model, same size, same circuit board revision, the whole lot) and CAREFULLY (use anti-static precautions) switch the circuit board from the good drive to the bad. I've seen this work, but it's not 100% that it'll fix your drive. Good luck anyway!0

I live in Brighton, but am willing to send it pretty much anywhere to recover the data as it's all stuff I cannot get again.0

I had the same problem a drive failed I sent it to a company paid them a small fortune and received my drive back 2 months later with an apology letter saying they couldnt get anything off it.0

Are you certain the harddrive is dead? Have you tried to add it as a slave in another PC?0

a friend of mine once said a trick is to put it in a freezer, never tried it myself put just done a quick google search and seems theres others supporting claim http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20061101112701700

the freezer trick is not something to try if the OP is willing to pay for recovery, as it may make things worse. It really is the last ditch attempt scenario prior to putting it in the bin.
Is the disk spinning, and is it recognised by the bios, is this the buffalo drive? What are the symptoms?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
