The Open Office suite of software has been around for some time now and does everything that MS Office does but at no cost.

In recent years Open Office development slowed down and didn't work with some features within the latest versions of MS Office.

A new group of developers took over the source code and introduced their own version called Libre Office. This brought it right up to date and it is what I now use. More recently, Open Office has been brought up to date and is now branded as Apache Open Office. I haven't tried it out so can't say how good or bad it is.

The websites for downloading either of these are -

    http://www.libreoffice.org/

    http://www.openoffice.org/

Personally, I would go for Libre Office.

    Hope this helps.

If you mean, open source MS Office, there isn't one (at least not a legit one). MS Office is a commercial suite that has to be paid for.

This would be my choice too, having used Open Office previously. Libre Office has some many more options, and the possibility to save as your mainstream MS Office.
