Things to do around Blackburn

We are spending next weekend in a Blackburn Hotel (2 adults & 2 girls) I have been googgling what there is to do in the area for Saturday, the most obvious day out would be Blackpool with girls aged 10 & 12 years.
Would anyone have better ideas for a full day out for the Saturday, we have visited Blackpool quite a few times, so would rather do something different which isn't going to cost a fortune and is only about 30 minutes from Blackburn area.
Much appreciated

When we stayed in Burnley we got the bus to Manchester for the day. It is further than 30 mins, but lots to do when you get there.0

There is an ice skating arena in blackburn, preston is good for shopping and Manchester wouldn't be too far where you would find lots to do. Hope this helps.0

You can get the train to Manchester, takes longer than 30 minutes though. Preston is nearby but I don't agree it's that good for shopping, there's not much that's not just the usual chains. There is the ice rink, cinema and the usual stuff, Witton Park is ok for a few hours if the weather's fine.0

I think we are now heading to Manchester, my husband hates shopping so will have to give that a miss
