Sky +

I currently have sky but was wondering if i bought a Sky+ box would it be as straight forward as plugging the box in and being able to use the recording facility/all other features?

Comments

  • I don't think so, my Sky+ box has a chunky double wire leading to the dish.. i suspect it won't be a 'plug and play' jobbie
  • Yes, because Sky+ has twin tuners, you need 2 cables running from the dish to the box

sky+ definitely needs some kind of technical set up from an 'expert'. There was a special cable inserted into mine. It is well worth it though!!

As above. Need a engineer because the Sky + uses more than one cable. That's if you want to record and watch more than one etc.

I have multi room so have a normal box up stairs. I did ask my engineer if I was to buy a Sky + box for upstairs would it work? He said yes but I'd only be able to record the one channel hence the one wire I had.

They used the same dish but added a new RMB (or what ever it's called) for the two lines coming out rather than one.

So maybe worth asking a engineer if you could just plug it in for a limited service (record one channel).

I'd also say it is well worth it, top peice of kit.
    Regards,
    Dave

If only I had a pound for every time I used the thanks button :D

depending on where your dish is.

you need to swap the lnb to a quad one, then run another lead from the dish to your sky + box.

if you got a ladder or a low dish you can do i yourelf. get the bits from ebay.

sky + is going to be free from july 1st also.
