Have a look to see how big your music files are now. Open Explorer, find your music directory, right click, and go down to Properties.

I dont think you need a very high spec for the rest of it. Games are the main concern for laptops, but if that doesnt interest you, many of the mid priced laptops would do the job fine. Have a look at the laptop thread at the top of this forum.

80 GB is the size of the hard drive where your documents, pictures and programs are stored. Most entry level laptops - minimum spec 60 GB hard drive, 1.7 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM (memory) - would suit your purposes. Look for one with a DVD-RW drive as DVDs have a much higher capacity than CDs and are more cost-effective and can also burn CDs. Also consider a model with built in wireless if you need to access the internet wirelessly at home or in hotels etc.

OS is the operating system. Buying one now, you'll have a choice of Windows XP or Vista.

Have a trawl through the Cheapest Decent Laptop thread.

hi, yer i agree with those above posts.

I wouldnt of thought you need 80gb just for music unless you have a huge collection.
I have a collection of music and movies and i have a 40gb hard drive (songs are about 4mb which is 0.004gb).

For what you want to do on this laptop. i wouldnt actually recommend windows.
(windows have operating systems like XP and Vista)
    I would purchase a macbook.

If you arnt familiar with macbooks you can get them from the apple website. http://www.apple.com/uk .It depends on the amount you are willing to spend.

As for the multimedia purposes they are spot on, however arnt as popular as windows.

Any way, Dell have a great range of laptops for specifications needed. And i would get 512mb ram,60 gb hard drive and buy it with xp. you can always upgrade.

I hope i gave you a little bit more information that you may require. Joe
