    They measure acceleration, Braking and cornering forces. So not being smooth and not driving like a vicar carrying 2 eggs on spoons is poor driving.

    Racing away from the lights and harsh braking or cornering too fast will get marked as bad.
    They know the roads and speed limits, Even doing 42 in a 40 limit maybe marked as bad ?

    Driving at peak times may also be marked as bad.

    You chose by price alone and now know why it was cheap.
