Help please. Advice re: urgent movement of gas meter
Options
Hello,
My parents-in-law's gas meter is very old and is situated in the corner of their front room. It has never been a problem; however, my MIL is terminally ill and is about to come home from hospital, and where ideally they want her hospital bed to go would be near to where the meter is, so it could cause a delay to her coming home. My SIL has spoken to their utility company (Swalec) who have said that Wales and West Utilities own the meter. WWU have said that she will need to fill a form in which will take 6 - 10 days to be looked at, then someone will come to assess the house and provide a quote... and then do the work. My PIL are now on a priority scheme due to the circumstances of my MILs health, and WWU have advised that they MAY be able to claim some of the cost back but have said it will cost £350+.
We are concerned that this process will take too long to sort out. Does anyone know of anyone we can contact to help us?
Thank you.

If its only near to where the meter is, why does it have to move? In my living room my gas meter is right next to my sofa, causes no trouble.0

If it really must be moved, all I can suggest is to get the system on the go and once you are in contact with the section that is doing the work make them aware of the situation and see what they could do.0

As said get it booked in with the meter company then contact them and explain the situation. You will still have to pay but I am sure if it's possible they will make you a priority.

Some written evidence from the hospital would do no harm either.0

swalec own the or lease the meter not wales and west but as the meter is attached to the service pipe which is the property of wwu they would have to move it or a company licensed to work on their pipes
Some networks offer free moves for registered disabled, speak to wwu with and ask what paper work would be required if they offer this and if mil qualifies as to speeding up process that is another matterI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

With it been in the front room, correct me if Im wrong but it will be cms from the service / ecv, no company will do this free. Would be different if it was just a standard move. However op it needs to be taken into account that wales and west aint very co-operativeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
