Parking Fine!

Options
I recieved a £80 parking fine in November 2006.

I went to visit my other half at her apartment which she had 1 allocated spot. She called the consierge for the apartments asking if there was a spare parking space available for me to park for the night. They said yes and told her the space I can park in.

I parked my car there and went to my car the next morning at approx 11.30am (from what I can remember) and I had a parking ticket which said the fine was £80. I immediately appealed against it as we were told could park there.

I didn't hear anything from the company (https://www.wheel-clamping.co.uk) and rang them 3 to 4 times since and each time and was told they haven't processed it but they can take anything upto 6 years to process the appeal.

I called them again TODAY they said they sent a letter on the 7th May declining the appeal and now the Parking fine was £120 which had to be paid by the 14th May. The letter was sent to my partner's address which she no longer lives at. Apparently they have now sent letters with a court date etc.

Can they actually increase the fine and take me to court?

This was actually a parking charge notice.

The company who have issued the ticket are a Private Parking Company.

Have a look at the responses to the other posts for Excel Parking and Euro Car Parks and you will see what little authority they actually have.

Could be worse. They could have clamped you and demanded you paid the money beforehand ... like they did to me! (£117.50!)
