Hi My boyfriend and I working a the same place.
last week we had a 3 days of holiday 8-10.04. We were abroad and get really ill. On 11 and 12 we didnt show up at work and never call them to say whats wrong. I was so eqhausted that didnt woke up when the alarm goes. Today we receive letters about disciplinary meetings. My Bradford factor score is above the norm 6 pt. I had fev days off before couse of the health issues but not much. I know how bad they treat people on those meetings had few before. My boyfriend was asked for bringing the plane tickets to proof thet we came back on Wednesday. I actually told them before we went to the doctor on Thursday they can call and check. Still they askng for those tickets. Can they do that. If for example I will not agree with their decission can I just not sign the papers and walk off. Im really tired and emotionally broke. What can we do.
Thanks for every help.

From what you have posted it seems that it is a meeting to try and establish just what happened. If what you say is correct and you have evidence to prove it I cannot see any advantage you may gain by not showing that evidence.0

There isn't any real excuse you can use for not calling in to let them know you were ill. It sounds like you've been in trouble before and it's not looking great for you.
I would personally apologise, admit YOU have not followed the contractual procedures to your role and explain you won't do it again.0 -
Why would you not let them see the tickets? I'm sure you can provide a copy of your booking info.
You say that you did not show up for work for 2 days and did not call the employer to give them any explanation as you did not hear the alarm! Seriously - for 2 days!0 -

Why didn't you call when you did wake up?0 -
The employer will say to you that you were well enough to go to an airport, sit around waiting for the plane and that the airport must have had phones and probably internet access. You then boarded a plane, went through the UK terminal and made your way home.
They will then ask you if you could do the above why you could not ring in on the next day or the night before to leave a message or send them an email.
You need to have an answer to the above0 -
I havent call after becouse they've changed the handbook and it says that you need to call till 9am. Email or txt message would not be enough. Ok I catched a plane because I had to get back home. Theres no problem with showing the tickets I just wanted to know can they ask for that.0

Hi there - Ok, so the deadline for calling in sick is 9am; like nearly all workplaces they have a rule on the deadline as to when you should notify of your absence. That is to help them plan and keep organised though. It doesn't mean if you miss that deadline (oversleeping, too violently ill to use a phone, etc) you just shouldn't call in at all - you need to call in as soon as you can in any case. Think how it looks from the employers' perspective - you and your bf both off ill for the same two days immediately after a holiday.
Two days absent with no word from you at all is a bit much. I think as another poster said above, you need to acknowledge you made a big mistake, apologise and be sure it won't happen again, and see how the boss takes it.0 -
Heh is it only me not getting that at all. Maybe because I know how not fair they were many times. I can only say that on fridays we work till 12 so there was no point to make a call if i woke up for example at 11: 45. Thanks for every answer

Of course there's still a point even at that time. It's to say 'sorry I wasn't in today because ...' :eek:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
