What's this Quidco 'Premium' nonsense???

I got an email from Quidco all pound and excited about the fact that I've been 'selected' for an 'upgrade'...
As far as I can tell, the only difference is I have access to live support, a few faster paying shops and (effectively) have to pay £5 a year for the privilege.
Is there any point? The basic level looks more appealing!

You pay £5 per year no matter which level you're on:
"As a Premium member you'll benefit from features aimed at speeding up the cashback payment process, improving access to our customer service team and exclusive offers and competitions. As we've always done we simply retain the first £5 of your annual cashback earnings."0 -
That doesn't seem to be the case, the "basic" tier does not have a retention fee.
The e-mail I had from them stated "We're very excited to announce that as of today Quidco is completely free for you to use. We've done away with our retention fee meaning you'll pocket all the cashback you earn. "
Had the same email this morning.0 -

Ha, what knobs.
I think I'll be down grading.0 -

There's another thread about this on here somewhere. If you don't want to pay the fee you can downgrade from the premium to the basic account. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I thought you always 'paid' £52014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310
2nd Purse Challenge:
£15.88 saved to date0 -
Well I've looked into it, the new 'Basic' package is free now, but you pay the £5 retention fee if you want faster paying cashback from those retailers that do faster paying, live chat services, request call services and promotions and competitions.
Your renewal date is your usual renewal date, so the date you joined Quidco. I was going to downgrade but I can't because if you've made a purchase since your 'upgrade date' you can't. It's saying my upgrade date was in March, when I only received an email the other day and haven't made a purchase since that email! Which is a bit annoying.0 -
Are they offering any cashback on the £5?0
-
They won't let me downgrade due to making a purchase0
