When will I qualify for a balance transfer?

in Credit cards
So Ive had a credit card for a few years now, didnt really want it, but ex applied for it, I wasnt even working at the time but he done the application based on his earnings and he was a cardholder (he cant get credit)
I used it for what I intended which was to pay off a few debts, wasnt much, but he then continued to use it and maxed it out. I have been paying the minimum for ages now and its barely going down, as the majority is obviously interest.
Ive now been in part time work for six months and am hoping to transfer the balance to a 0% interest card so I can at least wack off what Im actually paying each month, I applied about 2/3months ago for one and was rejected, do you think this may be because I have not been employed long, if so how long is the norm to be in stable employment before they accept.
Also if anyone knows of any good deals I would be grateful, I need to start getting this balance down.

How much are we talking about?
How much do you earn? Any other debts?
Are you on electoral roll?
Any black marks on your credit files?0 -
Theres £2,600 to pay on a £3000 limit.
I earn £14,000 a year
No other debts, as far as I know my credit rating is good, apart from a few late payments on the credit card0
