Hello all,
I am looking for a laptop. My OH has one already. My questions are:
Would we need another piece of equipment for 2 laptops to work under 1 roof?
also what would I need to get, I will use it mainly for surfing and email, and maybe typing a few documents and storing photos on.
anyone know what memory etc and what the best deal is out there
thanks a lot
sylvia

Depends on how you connect to the internet. If you already have a wireless router for OH lappy then you'll be OK.Would we need another piece of equipment for 2 laptops to work under 1 roof?
There are plenty of bargains out there at the moment. If you have a look at the "Great cheapest laptop" you'll see that the choice is huge.also what would I need to get, I will use it mainly for surfing and email, and maybe typing a few documents and storing photos on.
If you want the latest operating system, Vista, then you'll need something with at least 2 Gb of memory (Microsoft's recommendation).
Software; I'd recommend Open Office for letters etc.0 -
I am not really bothered with vista, I would prefer word and excel or something like that.
yes we have a wireless router.
What would you reccommend the min memory etc. My oh has
1024mb DDr - RAM
40GB HDD
This is all double dutch to me, he plays a lot of gaming (poker etc) online, I wont be so could i get away with a lower mem etc?
Thanks a lot

Vista is a version of windows which lets you navigate around your computer. Word and Excel are what you use to create and work with files.0

For your purposes, 512 MB RAM is sufficient, or 1024 MB (1 GB) if you do any graphics editing or like to run many programs at the same time. A 60 GB hard drive is about the entry level size these days. Look for one with built in wireless. No need for Vista, XP Home will do fine.
Word and Excel come with Office 2007. Look for genuine older versions (Office 97, Office 2000 or Office 2003) on ebay if you don't want to pay top dollar for the latest and greatest.
