Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

Nice link. In short it is likely to be the "B" shares you want if you are planning to buy.

P.S. If you are asking because you opted to be paid dividends in shares and have noticed they will be giving you "A" shares then see this previous thread:

    Hello guys.
I bought some Dutch Shell "A" 2 days ago within an ISA S&S account.
I now realized the difference between A and B.

    Shall I sell A and buy B?

    thanks

Personally I would avoid incurring unnecessary trading costs.

There is no effective difference in taxation outside an ISA, as under double tax laws you should be able to reclaim or be charged any difference!

Although how that works within an ISA im not sure. ???

certainly people usually hold the B shares....ive noticed the FTSE100 tends to just list the B shares, rather than both, nowadays. until recently, i always saw them both listed.

good link. i had just been told "the B shares pay the divi in pounds"......ive dipped in & out of BP over the years, rather than Shell.

    "Never Sell Shell"...:cheesy:

The A shares pay out less, I think they get caught by two taxes. Its not a big deal otherwise, I bought some once and just kept them for a year or so anyway

    Thanks for your opinion.

I was thinking that also other companies have "A" and "B" shares... I shall check first next time!

Very common. There is shares of all types issued but in this case they are very similar and sold on the same market

Santander has about 30 different shares you could buy but most are not sold in UK
