Received Vanquis Credit Card I Didn't Apply For

Hello,

I'm after a bit of advice and some reassurance from the good folk here on MSE about a Vanquis credit card I've received through the post.... even though I haven't even applied for one!!

I received the card and pin number (separately last week) but what is even more concerning is that today I received a statement from them stating a cash transfer for £200 and then a cash transfer refund for £200 on the same date!! So on the statement it shows as a zero balance.

I know for certain I nor anyone in the house applied for a card in my name or anyone else's. Is this some sort of scam?

I don't know what to do for the best?!

Can anyone give some useful advice or share a similar experience please?

Looks like you have had a false application made, vanquis are aware of the deception but your best bet is to ring them.

I personally would phone them up
as the £200 advance may have just been a tester
so now they know the card is usable
what I don't understand is if you have the card then who
has the other, as if there where 2 cards allocated to you they would have come in the same envelope

Thanks for the reply both :)

Only 1 card has been received and it appears as though only 1 is on the account.

I'll give them a ring as suggested.

    Many thanks.

Just spoke to Vanquis customer services (using the 0800 7816314 number) and they have acknowledged that it's a fraudulent application and have referred it to their fraud department for resolution.

Have been promised a letter in the post acknowledging the fraud.

Why do I think this won't be the end of the matter *sigh*
