Hi all,
I have a HSBC credit card and have done the balance transfer for 23 months thing I am wondering if i was to spend on it as well how would i pay this back say i have a £1000 balance transfer and i spend say £100 on i have a min payment of £50 set up to pay the £1000 off each month but if i say pay £150 a month on to this would £150 pay the amount borrowed and then the rest part off the £1000 or would this all come off the £1000 and interest be charged on the £100 i have spent.
sorry if this is a stupid question but I have 2 cards and want to get it down to 1.
Hope someone can help.
Regards
Aidan

The payment comes off the higher rate first. So in this case, the purchases.
But you will be charged interest on the purchases, as you will not be clearing the balance in full. You'd be better off keeping your purchases on the second card (assuming you want to pay them off in full each month).0 -
Hi,
Thank you for the reply. Would that be the case if I was spending £100 and making a payment of £150 I would still be paying the full amount of what I have spent that month on the card?
