solicitors fees at auction

Is it common to pay the vendors solicitors fee on an auction property? I am looking at the docs for a property and it states buyer has to pay purchase price + £900 vendor solicitors fees + 125.57 for searches etc...

In my experience, it's not uncommon at all - I've seen it in lots of legal packs. I think it's particularly prevalent amongst mortgage lenders selling repossessed properties.

It doesn't matter if it's common or not

If it's in the requirements of the purchase, then you have to pay it (if you win).

And I'm not being Mr Awkward here, there really are some odd clauses in auction sales that catch out the unwary bidder. All of them are enforcable.
