Hearing this Thursday - Advice needed

In a nutshell, the traffic warden, now called a CEO, advised us where to park as we were new to the Disabled badge scheme. We were in a suspended bay and asked advice as all around was suspended and we cannot walk. He told us we would be alright just move up a bit. I said do you mean onto the double yellow? He replied 'not if there is a yellow line on the kerb or if it causes an obstruction' which we took to mean it was too near the traffic lights. He then gave us a ticket, the same warden, and when we queried his advice he said he told us to park on the double yellow!
Have taken it all the way to a hearing even though we were parked in a suspended bay because we did what he told us. We have two letters from the authority stating in one that the warden told us to park in a permitted bay and in another piece of evidence they said he had advised us to park on the double yellow! We would have parked wherever he had advised us as we were new to the blue badge scheme and had no idea we could have parked on a double yellow. If he had told us to park there we would have.
