it appears i fulfil all the criteria for bt basic,BUT as i have a deal for bt b/band i would lose that and be worse off under basic

I had a similar thing with them last year, but ring them and tell them you want a deal on your BT Broadband.
I'm now getting 40GB limit for £10.50pm, and pay my line rental 12 months in advance at about £10.50 a month.
