Just bought a 2004 Mondeo 1.8 petrol. We need to buy a crank case breather pipe (pcv hose) because ours has a split in it, this lets air into the intake causing the engine to rev itself. I have found this scary as you cant control the revs and think ford should recall as they know this problem exists.
Ford recon you have to buy an upgrade kit which cost over £150. Have been reading on the internet that you can buy just the pipe but I am unable to find the part number for it. Can anyone help me with this please.
Thank you.

ive been into fords part department in the past and theyve shown me the part ive needed on the computer, they are able to trace the part from your reg, or if you phone them they are normally quite good, ive even sent them a picture message of a part in the past and theyve identified it.0

If you find a helpful parts department they will show you the exploded view on the screen.
Tell them which bit you want and the part number is there for them. If its obsolete and a kit is the only option then you can try mazda or jaguar as they are the same car under the skin.
Plastic part thats failed after 9 years? Why would they recall that? Nothing in it for them.
Lots of other more serious issues dont get recalled so little chance of that one.
Ford and plastics, Just dont seem to go well. Bonnet lock rod is also plastic. Have you checked that? Its not far off the age where they get brittle and leaving you unable to open the bonnet.
Drilling the grill or bonnet lock required to open it. Silly idea.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thank you Scotman4th but the link you put up is for an older model than mine. I have tried ford but they do not do the hose on its own I have to buy the full kit, which is annoying because of its price. It is a known fault on these cars, my point was why force you to pay all that money when they know you only need the hose :-(.
Thank you all for replying.0
