When I spoke to my trustee he said my grocery bill was too high as it was above the average. I explained that my daughter had food allergies and was lactose intolerant (she was a baby at the time and has thankfully grown out of a lot of this) therefore certain things (especially formula) cost me more and he let me have my allowance. Try not to worry, if they can see it's necessary then they shouldn't take it off you.
Good Luck

It seems that often, the OR's rep that is dealing with these things isn't trying to be 'awkward'...but, if figures for items are adrift from average, they, too, need to provide their superiors with 'evidence' of why they have allowed such expenditure.
A 'box-ticking' exercise?
Which is why, as DD so often advocates....demanding a breakdown of costs, and arguing for what you want is the way to go.
Luckily, I didn't have to argue.....but I did make sure the OR was fully aware of all my commitments, no matter how vague they may have been in reality, from time to time. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
