Cheapish facial regime

Looking for some relatively cheap ideas for facial skin care.
I need at least a moisturizer and face makeup that don't cause breakouts.
It doesn't matter whether I use a BB cream or a foundation, it always causes me to break out in spots. Also, they tend to make my pores and fine lines look more prominent as-well.
If anyone could offer advice / recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.

I have acne due to PCOS and I follow the acne.org 'regimen'. You can buy their products or use off the shelf ones. At the moment I am using boots sensitive foaming facial wash...£3 and has lasted me 3 months and just about to go onto the next bottle. I also use the moisture lotion from the same range during the day (£3.50 ish I think) and cetaphil lotion at night (£8.99).
They don't have spf in them so I make sure my make up does. I am using Lily Lolo at the moment because it doesn't contain bismuth oxychloride which is known to induce acne.
The acne.org site says you shouldn't use anything abrasive either, e.g. no scrubs as this causes inflammation.

I don't suffer with acne per say, it's certain products that my skin obviously doesn't like that are causing me problems.
Also, I either suffer with dry skin or oily skin. My skin is currently quite oily for some reason.
Have recently tried SBC collagen moisturiser, Cowshed moisturiser & a fairly cheap one from Superdrug.0 -
Look for natural products with no perfume/fragrance. A sensitive/dry facial treatments would be best. I also have very sensitive skin not really prone to spots but find alot of cleansers and exfoliates are way to harsh and end up stinging my face and going red.
You sound like you have a combination skin. Are oily in t-zone area and dry rest of your face. People with oily skin are more prone to spots.
So a solution for that is a good cleanser with a gentle exfoliate for dry parts and use a toner for the oily areas.
My mum has the SBC Collagen and its fine on my face shouldn't cause breakout as mean't to be natural.
Have you tried Simple products? they are good for my skin and a natural kinda product. A little more expensive is Liz Earle's stuff which is amazing. Though Superdrug do a similar item called Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser.
Makeup wise get yourself a primer for pores and lines, helps smooth out the base and also combat oily parts. Do you apply moisturerer before makeup? if not do. How about trying Mineral Makeup like Bare Minerals. I know E.L.F do a mineral line and its pretty nice stuff for good price.0 -
My facial routine at the moment is: Boots no7 hot cloth cleanser (which I only use on an evening), either SBC collagen moisturizer & or gel, or Cowshed.
Never tried on of the Simple range, might take a look.
I always moisturize my face regardless of whether I put makeup on or not.
Haven't used a primer tho', so don't know what to look for. Also, never tried mineral makeup apart from a blusher I bought a while back from ELF. Bare Minerals is a bit too expensive for me to be honest as is Liz Earle. I'm also not sure of my skin tone. I am quite fair but I do have some hyper-pigmentation on my forehead. Might contact ELF and ask if they have samples to try.
I know I've been using SBC or Cowshed, however, those were bought for me at Christmas.
It's a jungle out there lol, trying to find suitable products. I never use heavy duty face makeup as I don't like it. Although my skin is far from perfect, I'm not keen on trying to cover up everything. I prefer my skin to look like skin and not heavily made up.0 -
I'm super cheap, but surprisingly the cheap options have been the easiest on my skin.
I use the OCM for cleansing, with an occasional baking soda scrub. My face never liked any BB cream or foundation I tried, some of them burned or itched or made me feel and look like I was wearing a mask. For now I've settled on wearing an Olay spf 15 daily moisturizer/gradual tanner ( I also have a Neutragena and L'Oreal ones found on offer in stash so I am not particularly brand loyal) the gradual tan means I don't have to bother with foundation on a day to day basis. For special occasions I will also use ELF's primer and mineral foundation powder, both of which don't irritate my skin and seem to give a believable skin effect rather than the foundation mask I so hate. Before bed I use Aldi's Q10 night cream, but again I am not brand loyal and this is just what I picked up, once this is finished I may find I prefer something else.No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. I need to work out what shade of makeup I need. Very difficult when buying online.
Have had a look at ELF mineral makeup, but there are that many shades to choose from it's quite baffling.0 -
I agree, very difficult to chose foundation colour online. I waited until ELF had a half price sale, I ordered fair and porcelaine for DD's as they are both very fair and turned out perfect. Ordered warm for myself which turned out to be too dark, but I am saving it for summer use, reordered light for me which is just right. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. When I have looked at the colours on their website I think the light shade might be suitable, the others look to light or too dark for my skin. I'm also thinking about getting one of their mineral concealors too.0

Has anyone tried Avon's mineral foundation? It's on offer at the moment.0

Go to a MAC counter and get matched, they will give you a reference number and then google cheap dupes to that reference number, most make up sites etc use MAC referencing as a guide so this should be quite easy.
I find this to be a cheap effective skincare regime, I usually swap around as my skin gets used to products
Cleanser - Boots essentials or Botantics when on offer, removes everything incuding waterproof make up, the essentials range have eye make up remover pads too which a very good.
Toner - as above
Moisturisers - As above again, the Botanics ones are very good, I also use Eucerin glycolic acid cream and Retin A cream, sudocream for spots and bepanthum if I've had the heating on too much.
Revlon colourstay is as good as most high end foundations, the one for oily skin is more yellow toned and the normal ones are more pink toned, lasts ages too.All power is from within and therefore under our control0
