Why so much for old ink cartridges?

Just seen 22 empty Epson cartridges go for nearly £70 WHY?

Either to refill or possibly for Tesco points.

I did manage to sell 4 empty Brother cartridges for 0.99, but it took ages, and was too much trouble for too little money.

I now take my empties to recycling point for charity.

Maybe I need to be switching to Epson.

HP ones do very well , although most of the people that buy mine are in Spain- I have no idea why!

They are refilled, rechipped and resold.
  • There's a big market at the moment for remanufactured ink cartridges, and as a result, big demand for empty cartridges to remanufacture.

I've seen HP and Lexmark do quite well, as they charge such absurd amounts for official ink.

Is this just ink? We use HP laser jet and go through too many to let me sleep easily! Should I be recycling them?
