I recently sold a dining table on ebay and they paid promptly by paypal on the day auction ended even no problems and they sent a courier - all perfectly sound and no claw back so very happy though did think it very odd at the time.

    How recently?

Chargebacks usually arrive a few months later.

Can I just offer it to the person that was the 2nd highest bidder -without having to relist it (and risk this chap bidding again) Also, can someone let me know how to block him from bidding on my items.

Officially you cannot sell until the buyer says they don't want it.

    To block bidders:-

    I doubt it's a scammer for £15 (IMHO)

OP, if you're new to selling it may be worth cutting your teeth on smaller, easy to post items.
In your original post you say it was listed as cash on collection or Paypal, this is what the buyer has won an item on, or did you specify no courier collection buyer must collect in person?
Rather than a chargeback on a cheap item, I would be far more concerned about someone having my home phone number & address, it's quite easy to ring a landline, a few times to work out when a house is empty & burgle it.
Maybe that's just my paranoia kicking in.

I also pay by PayPal (usually since the sellers feel its a "risk" to wait for cash-on-collection, aka I might be a NPB) for furniture items and send a courier. I'm partly disabled and don't drive, so the only way I can get furniture items on eBay is to use a courier. I'm definitely not a scammer. :o

Most people are not scammers but as sellers don't normally know their buyers there is no way of knowing who is honest or not. The seller is taking a risk, even if a small one, in allowing your courier to pick up.

I doubt its a scammer but frankly it's bloody rude to expect someone to put themselves out for you without having the decency to actually message them and ask first.

I'd take the neg before I'd sell to them frankly but I'm a bit pig headed ;)

I can understand people paying by paypal when they collect as it is pushed at them from all sides and if they go through checkout to get sellers address it only shows paypal as payment.

However, I cannot understand at all, in any way, a buyer that thinks 'collelct' is the same as sending a courier. I had something collected yesterday, what with work, and taking my car to the garage etc I could only guarantee to be in until 10am. So I said to buyer either arrive by 10am or it will have to be another say. It sat in my hallway, unwrapped and when she came to collect she saw it, put it in a big carrier bag she had bought wrapped in bubble wrap and thick towels (which she also brought with her) and took it home.

A courier would almost certainly have expected me to wait alld ay, have it boxed and wrapped safely for transport. Not the same thing at all
