is a firewall needed on a Nexus 7?

Hi,

I have just semi - inherited a Nexus 7 from a family member.
I have downloaded AVG free to use as anti-virus but am not sure if I need a firewall as well.
Do I and if so can someone recommend a free option?

    I personally never bothered with any security software in the three years that I owned various Android phones and I didn't have any problems. Just exercised caution when downloading from the Android Market/Play Store and only downloaded apps with lots of downloads and high ratings. Checked the permissions of any apps I wasn't sure about.

    Personally I would probably say it's not "needed," but I wouldn't blame you for using one :p

    I also wouldn't say its needed and ive been fine so far with the nexus, just be wary what you download but as mattye says its up to you.

    I would watch your battery life with AVG - it can be a real battery muncher. You may find Avast is better - I have no connection with the company, just found this out on my phone.
