Help, Water leaking under sink

I need help from all you DIY'ers and i apologise as i'm not very technical and i don't know the proper names for things.

I have water under my sink but i think its coming from the pipe that drains the water away from my washing machine, the bit where my washing machine draining pipe meets the plastic pipe that takes the water to the drain outside.

About 3 months ago a plumber put in a pipe to drain away the water from my dishwasher (previously both the dishwasher & washing machine drained away in the same pipe which caused leaks from the dishwasher)! I suspect the trouble started then as i have wiped puddles up before but i thought it was from my sink overflow as this also has a leak.

A 'mate' put in this cheap kitchen for us but we have had problems ever since..some 'mate'!

Anyway, is it because the plastic pipe that drains outside isn't high enough? I've check that the pipe that comes from my washing machine hasn't split and i hace poured water down the pipe to check it isn't blocked, so what else could it be?...Do i need to pay for a plumber? (Husband worse than me at DIY).

Please help

First thing I'd do is put the washing machine on a rinse cycle and watch what happens under the sink - that way you'll know for definite if that is the root of the problem.

Next check that the pipe (although not blocked) is draining quickly - WM's pump out water pretty quickly so its no good if the water is just trickling away through the pipe as it will back up and overflow.

The other thing to check is that the pipe from the washing machine extends far enough down the waste pipe - if the end is too near the top water may be swirling out over the top. Most washing machine pipes have a plastic frame thing on to keep it in an inverted U shape - move that up the pipe a bit to make the open end longer.

    Thanks

Yes the water is freely flowing through the pipe a nd yes i've now watched and the water is definately coming from the waste water pipe.

The pipe from the washing machine has a rubber funnel shaped thing on so it pushes into the waste pipe without a gap between both pipes (hope you know what i mean). The washing machine pipe is definately sitting in a vertical postion.

Coming back out of the top or from one of the joints at the bottom of the waste water pipe?

the water is coming out of the top of the waste pipe that goes out to the drain.

Just had a plumber round, he says the waste pipe that goes outside isn't big enough and it's blocked. He took the outside part off and showd me all the fluff and gunge blocking it. It's not completely blocked as water does come out.

He is coming back to do the work tomorrow and has quoted me £40. Hope thats ok.

    Thank you
