PayPal "CONFIRMED POSTAL ADDRESS" ?

Sold something on eBay 2 weeks ago. Buyer paid so I posted immediately to their "Confirmed postal address" and sent them an email stating that I had posted it.

The next day I get an email from the buyer stating "my address is not complete".

Too late I reply, already posted....

Just to cover my back, I reported the user as having invalid contact information. Typically eBay have assured me that this is being looked into....

Of course it comes back to me today, marked by RM as an Incomplete Address.

So, questions:-

1. What sort of address is "confirmed" by PayPal when it is incomplete?
2. Why has the dozy buyer still not updated their address on eBay / PayPal, as I have just checked and it is still incomplete.
3. What would you do next?

I am off to find the cooking sherry..

A confirmed address does not mean much with paypal. Usually it mean that they have just phoned them on a landline. No proof of physical address is sent in.

Ive just refused to sell to one. Their confirmed address was a storage depot used by people as a virtual address. No way was i posting a £400 item to that.

In future i suggest checking all addresses out before posting. I do, and just last week it saved me sending a large item via courier to an incomplete address. It amazes me how many ebayers do not know where they live - often putting a wrong postcode or Town.

How is it incomplete? Addresses can be missing some parts but it still be possible to deliver the parcel. A street address and postcode for instance is sufficient even though incomplete. Can you look it up here?

Since RM started losing my mail, I now get ebay purchases sent to 3 different addresses, and they're all "confirmed" despite my card only being registered to one.

I thought paypal confirms addresses with the postcode of your card.

No, only one address is checked against the card, after that everything you add will be automatically confirmed.

I have a lot of confirmed addresses on my PayPal, including several uni ones I used for my sons.

  • OK, quick recap - so the buyer failed to supply a house number and I posted it immediately, only to get an email a day later stating that the "Confirmed Address" was incomplete and supplying a full address. That was over two weeks ago.

The item was returned to me a couple of days ago with an RM sticker stating that the address was incomplete. I was going to email the buyers stating that it had been returned and ask them what they wanted me to do next but, frankly, I was really ticked off by the whole business as I had sold the item at auction for pennies and had made a loss by posting in the first place. That's just the sort of honest Spammy that I am...

(sound of angels singing in the background)

Anyhoo, just checked eBay and the buyers have left me positive feedback - !!!!!!?

Cannot help but notice that they have only bought like (cheap) items in the past - are they hoping to build up a good feedback rating for their future hooky eBay business? If so, unlucky as Spammy no longer gives buyers feedback as she feels that it is completely pointless!

I am really sorry if the answer to this is obvious to you guys, but I am trying to buy my sister a computer, I have put ehr address onto my paypal account. The buyer is happy to ship to her address provided it appears on the Paypal paperwork. How do I make that happen? Is there an option when he invoices me to choose a different paypal address for delivery? Thanks for your patience with a technophobe.

When you go through the payment, there will be a page asking you where you wish to have it delivered, make sure you check the correct address.
