Direct Debit Help!!!

Hi,

I lost my card on Sunday and reported this but I have a direct debit coming out today and don't have sufficient I.D to go into the branch to sort it out ie, put the money in.

I cancelled the direct debit with the bank yesterday but I don't think it was in time for it to have stopped the payment today.

Will I be charged for this ( I am with Santander )

If so, could I ask for the charge to be waived due to the circumstances?

Also, my bill is showing as paid so I am assuming the direct debit has gone out but how long before it bounces?

Thanks in advance.

You should not need ID to pay money into an account.

Could you not use online banking to transfer the funds.

Hope you have contacted the co the DD was going to, as you could recieve a charge from them as well.

fiesta04. Santander use PIn terminals for you to put your card into when you pay funds in.
Without this you need proof of id and acc details.
