Transfer to wrong Sort Code

Hi,
I recently transferred some money from my online Skrill Moneybookers account.
For some reason through absent mindedness i have sent the transfer to the correct bank name, correct account number however the sort code was incorrect.
The intended account was a Lloyds account however the sort code i entered was actually a HSBC one.
Now the account number doesn't match up to the sort code on PCA and so i was wondering what the best advice was or what was likely to happen?
Will this just bounce and go back to moneybookers?
Thanks

I think name of the bank [STRIKE]get's [/STRIKE]gets ignored in online transfers.
If the combination of the sort code and the account number is invalid, then I am pretty sure the money will [STRIKE]bonce [/STRIKE]bounce back to Skrill or, even more likely, will never leave Skrill. As they take ages to process withdrawals, it's probably worth contacting them.0 -
The money actually has left skrill i spoke with them this morning. Theyve actually been fairly quick with their withdrawals recently so im holding out hope it should be resolved fairly quickly.
The sort code i have sent to actually exists, however the account number will not tally up.
Presume im going to be in limbo for a few days?0 -
grumbler,
As you insist on having spelling and grammar corrections as part of your signature, would it be too much to expect your posts to be correct?
gets, NOT get's
bounce, NOT bonce0 -
Anyone got any idea as to the best way forward? Both banks just advise to wait but without a timescale and Skrill cant do anything unless its returned?
Summary is
- Wrong Sort Code
- Correct Account Number
- Correct Bank Name
- Combination of Sort Code and Account number are invalid.

And you are absolutely certain the sort code and account number combination is invalid?
Has a modulus check been done to confirm this? Even if the details are invalid, the money may have bounced "sideways" into a suspense account.0 -
Just realised he says he's checked PCA. Not sure how accurate it is but as I mentioned, it could still have gone into a suspense account.0

Im absolutely sure the combination is invalid. I have also checked a system we use at my work for this called albany which does the same thing. Skrill informed me that they expect it to bounce back in a couple of days to them but can no guarantee time frames.0

So what is wrong? The sort code? The account number?
I have been using Skrill an awful lot over the last few years and I was unaware that you can make a withdrawal to an 'unverified' bank account. At the time of withdrawal, you have to use a bank account that you had previously registered and verified. You don't specify any sort code or account number at the time of withdrawal.
A fully 'verified' bank account is one to which Skrill have made a token payment (of a penny or three), and from which you have made a deposit, however small, into your Skrill account. If only one of the verification steps has taken place, the bank account is still valid.
How did you manage to withdraw to a non-existent account? Why did you attempt to withdraw to an unverified account?0
