Hi all :D

Just wondering if anyone uses this or has any experience / opinions on it?

http://www.markus-muehle.de/en/

I have never heard of it before it came up as the best option for price when I did a search on whichdogfood.co.uk. (which is a really good site by the way I saw it recommended by REV on here!)

Seems a really good food with a low feeding guide and it is cold pressed which is supposed to preserve more nutrients and be much easier for the dog to digest.

If anyone is interested these are the ingredients:

28% dried poultry meal, thermally treated whole grain rice, thermally treated whole grain maize, 8% game tripe meal, rice germs, Jerusalem artichoke meal, 5% sea fish meal, dried Beet root meal, cold pressed linseed oil, cold pressed rapeseed oil, 2% egg yolk, dried peat, fruit powder (combination of carobs, pineapples, papayas, bananas, acerola cherries, apples, pears, blueberries, mangos, raspberries), dried herb mixture, salmon oil, algae meal, dried Mojave yucca.

I was looking at it on Zooplus where it is £32.90 for 15 KG?

Hideous packaging though defo needs changing can't see anything dog related at all on it?!? Looks more like some sort of weedkiller / lawn food to me lol!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Any thoughts? :T

Poultry meat meal (28%), wholegrain corn flour, brown rice meal, game tripe meal (8%), rice germ, game bone meal, corn germ, Jerusalem artichoke meal, sea fish meal (5%), linseed oil, rapeseed oil (both cold pressed), powdered eggs (2%), dry peat, powdered fruit (2% incl. carob, pineapple, papaya, banana, acerola cherry, apple, pear, blueberry, mango, raspberry), mixed dried herbs, salmon oil, algae meal, dried and ground Yucca Schidigera.

I'd email and ask what the percentages of those in red are. Zooplus are usually great for answering questions.

Is an okay food for the price. I got a small bag once to try the boys but was put of by the shape and the fact it was hard as a rock, I have to staffies who had took a few seconds to chomp through them and they demolish chicken backs in under a minute.

Try and get a sample bag if you can.

We sell it at work so I had a look at it. Can't say I'd particularly want to pay that much money for a food with corn flour as the second ingredient though - http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-industry-exposed/dog-food-corn/

Thanks Rev for having a look I know you have tried several different foods on your doggies and thank you Krlyr as I know you are very knowledgeable too. :)

I have requested a sample and they are also going to send one of a brand new food they are doing called "gentle" which is specifically for the UK market I think it has less / no Corn in it?

My dog has a sensitive stomach and what appeals to me is that this is cold pressed where as the vast majority of dried food is extruded and I was also hoping that as the kibble was bigger she might chew it more as she never normally chews kibble just wolfs it whole which cant be good for her digestion!!

  • I chose this dry dog food because it rated quite high in the comparison charts for best quality ingredients and a reasonable price. We have 9 dogs so price is a consideration. If you are selective with the supplier you choose you can as in my case save 5% on the supplier's savings plan, go on Quidco and get cashback and a discount code, delivery is free over a certain amount too so the price becomes very reasonable. The other comment about it being hard, well you have to remember dogs have the teeth to manage hard food and our dogs make short work of scoffing their food. I even use it as training treats as they will almost do cartwheels for it.
