I am worried. My other half has just finished his DRO and we desperately want a place of our own as fed up of renting and landlords who dont care about issues.
I spoke to an IFA who seems to think its going to be a massive issue to do anything within the next 2 years but with the new help2buy scheme its the only way we are going to be able to afford the house we want. He gets the military deposit which is 5% or something but that extra 20% would be perfect.
Is this DRO gonna stop us in our tracks?
Can anyone help?

Im in the same situation finished my DRO March 2012, it stays on your credit file six years so i can get a mortgage or loan due to this, i understand after 6 years you will have it wiped off the file totally, but i have managed to obtain an orange phone contract and I phone 4s, so i now have the monthly payments for this 24month contract putting some good on my credit report, the only way i managed this was by getting an orange pay monthly sim (they do a reduced credit check for these contracts) made six monthly payments in full and on time and they upgraded, i would suggest that your OH take some form of credit out like this to start building some sort of positive onto his credit file.0

Vanquis accepted me after 2 months with a £500 limit which after 5 months of using and paying off in full every month has been increased to £1000!
I know my credit file is gettin better because I this card! I also have a phone contract putting green ticks on my file every month!
I know my file is getting better as my basic bank account has just been upgraded to a current account and Vodafone were offering me an iPad in contract (I haven't taken this up)
My DRO ended September 2012 so keep repairing the credit file by making use of credit and ensuring its all paid off on full every. Month and you will start seeing improvements:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j
