jst found money in old TESSA what to do?

Just been going though partners old finances, he put approx £5,000 in an old TESSA way back in 1992 and has never done anything with it since then,
a) what will it be worth now?
b) what is best thing to do with it now, he is 62 and in ill health with no other savings now what so ever.

Many thanks

  • Would he qualify for ESA due to ill health and if so do you work or not? If you do not work then you may get income related ESA, but that would take a while and the £5k is below the capital limits. Apply for DLA if you have not already done so if he has some care needs or mobility problems.

Contact the original TESSA provider. It will have been converted into an ISA by now.
  • Interest was 10% back then, I'd hope it was more then 5k by now
