LittleBill wrote: »Hi Coupon' ...
I will be passing so will pick up one of these today ... I have just checked my Sainsbug's calendar coupons for 2008 ... the February one is for 50p off PER KG on So Organic Chicken ... which starts 1st Feb ... Hopefully if the above coupon runs into Feb we can double it up for a nearly half price chicken ... Hoorah! .... I'm with Hugh Fearnley-Serving-Suggestion ... Keep the Chickens happy!
Hi LittleBill!
Good point about the Sainsburys Calendar coupons, I haven't used any yet, and this one will combine nicely in February as the dates overlap. I think I will buy a chicken or two!
It seems you've spotted a potential overcharge on these coupons though, thankyou my friend!:T
I have just checked the Calendar coupons (these are sadly no longer available BTW to anyone who hasn't got them, they were with a previous Sainsbugs mag). Anyhoo, the first 4 months clearly say 50p off per KILO of a certain product - but the barcode looks fairly certain to scan for a total of 50p off only. I will be amazed if it scans according to the weight of your item seeing as there is no till connection between their coupons and their products normally.
So although Sainsburys don't offer Double the Difference this will be worth watching & claiming the difference at the CS desk if you make sure your item weighs well over a kilo. You would have to buy exactly the right item each time though if going to CS desk, as they will scrutinise the coupon of course!
Alternatively, buy a small item - maybe not the chicken, lol, maybe a lone pork loin steak this month with the current Calendar coupon, and you'd still get 50p off of the cost even if it was well under a kilo. Or do what I do and buy anything of course, and smile sweetly at a young lad who seems happy to scan it anyway.
Well spotted, you do indeed PractiSe the Art of Elegant Frugality as your signature says!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi Coupon ... Happy New's to You ...
I wondered how this would work ... Though I must say I normally buy a little feathered friend of 3lbs or thereabouts so unless I hunt down a big fella I'll only get my first kilo ... though you could nicely 'argue' the point with the charming CS in Sainsbugs about whether it should be proportional ...
I do indeed try to be elegant in my frugality Coupon' ... and sometimes even manage 5 meals for 3 and a half of us out of one happy chicken ... I won't bore you with what I do with stock ...
I do take my hat off to you Coupon' though ... You must share with us all how you get on with your single Pork Loin chop between the 6 of you ... :rotfl: ... I am sure somewhere on the old style board you'd get a medal for that one ...

Hello Loveandlight and a late Happy New Year ....
I will try to answer your question ... In the Sainsbury's mag there is normally a whole page of Sainsbug's coupons for use against the product only ... unless you are very canny like Coupon-mad and get a lot of shopping you can normally only get the coupons accepted against the product bought ... However Sainsbugs till's are not set to automatically work out if you have bought the product ... so there are grey area's I have found ... for instance if the coupon is for Corn Cobs and the pack you want isn't on the shelf and you buy another ... you can often get it taken off the ones you buy as the cashier just checks if you have bought corn cobs and seldom goes into the detail ... Also these Sainsbugs only coupons are often quite generous so often it is worthwhile to buy the odd thing if you are close ... like you and me also ... and get only the things that are on coupons ...
Also in the mag .... not this month sadly ... there are often NSS couponogs on other pages that can be used in Tesco or other stores ... and as the mag is only £1.20 it is often worthwhile to buy it for these alone ... last month for example there was £3.50 of NSS coupons if I remember rightly ... so £2.30 up before you use the Sainsbug's own ones ...
I generally buy a bit of stuff from Sainsbugs and use what coupons they offer as and when ... I do in fact prefer a lot of stuff from Sainsbug's and they are a considerably more ethical company than Tescolditz!
Hope this Helps a bit ....
Hoorah ... My 800th Post!
What a lovely, helpful reply LittleBill, thanks!!0 -

I like this idea chipbeck, trouble is it's usually my 14 year old [STRIKE]walking waste disposal unit[/STRIKE] son who gets to the food first in our house!
Anyhoo, forget the idea of buying certain amounts of pork chops, I used a couple of the Calendar coupons in Sainsburys today (in the interests of research for you good people of course) and they do scan for 50p off anything. And I didn't even buy one little lonely pork chop.
Think I have been lucky with SAs in my Sainsburys recently, they took on some new young 'uns before Christmas, very scan-happy they are too!:DPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
