I know somebody who bought a house on a modern estate. They were worried that the block of flats right in front was listed as being for some kind of affordable social housing, but made a judgement call .... and were very lucky. As it turned out, it seems to have been bought privately and then interior decorated out of all recognition, and rented to very nice people and there's not been one minute of hassle.

The bunch in the SO houses turned out to be the biggest annoyance, with parking on the road which is disallowed in the leases and having works' vans on the estate, also disallowed.

I live in a council house. No one here drinks lager in their garden. I look after my house and put rubbish in the bin.

I can spell too. You can work and live in a council house.

The level of ignorance on here is astonishing.

    Well said :D

I live in a council flat, our block has 6 flats in, only 1 is privately owned and is rented out via a letting agent. The tenants that have lived there over the last 4 years have been drug dealers, a benefit cheat and someone who refused to pay their rent and who is currently going through the eviction process. Meanwhile us council tenants pay our rent and keep the communal areas clean/tidy.

It really does depend on the person/family who lives in the property.
