Changing carbon filter in cooker hood

Hi,

I have a new cooker hood in my kitchen, which recirculates the air and I found that it only comes with cleanable grease filters, but not with charcoal filters for removing smells - they need to be purchased separately at £40 per kit.

I found universal cooker hood filters in Robert Dyas, which can be cut to size, but does anybody have any experience of doing this?
I presume that you would just lay the sheets on top of the existing grease filters, but does it work or would it interfere with the grease filter?

The 'official' charcoal filters are plastic cartridges, which attach to the motor, up inside the hood.

Thanks for any advice!

Ebay sell cut to size cooker hood filter's .Just bought some and they do the job .You get a layer of charcoal filter and a layer of grease filter, just lay them on top of exsisting grease filter.
    I paid £6 for 2 to 3 filter's (60cm cut)
    Hope this helps
