Any ideas please?

Hi I'm looking for savvy forumites to help me out please with ideas/info.
I've got a good credit rating but have had a rough couple of months financially - car, etc etc
I just need an overdraft extension or similar for 2 months when I am guaranteed income which will rectify the situation and clear o/d etc in full. I have approached my bank of 10 years (FD) who have refused this, or a loan as they say they cant explain my banking! I explained my hardship, kids etc they refused, then the following day have sent me a letter advising me of £50 fee for going over my overdraft which I had discussed at length previously. I've asked them for help but they have refused - surely this is not ethical as there is no way until payday I can rectify and they will just keep adding fee after fee and I don't have money to buy decent food or any petrol. I'm so frustrated as I feel after 10 years plus of being an A+ customer they could see this wasn't a regular issue.

Any suggestions please?

Tq

How do you know this? If it's really good just apply for a credit card.

They are not a charity. Their business is not to help people in hardship despite some people thinking otherwise.
Re the fee, I can be wrong, but I think they will not add anything if you don't spend more.
    Any suggestions please?
At the moment - a credit card or a loan from some other provider (if your credit rating is really good enough)
In the future - you must have some savings for emergencies.
  • Afraid I have to agree with grumbler.

If you have over the normal 500 quid OD you get with FD and you've maxed it out they have only your word that you'll be able to fix matters in a couple of months.

Any friends or family that could give you a short term loan? Possibly pawn something (don't really know what that involves myself, but just a thought)?

Opening another current account with a free overdraft could be an alternative to credit card (both will take a few days at least).

Sorry to preach (you're going to get this on a budgeting board), but this demonstrates the benefit of having an emergency fund. You can't (shouldn't) rely on debt being available when you need it and, as you're seeing, debt can be very expensive, especially when you need it urgently.

    Hope you get something sorted
  • no idea hearing such a thing for first time.. i will only say
    if no idea- get idea
