Putting an offer in
Comments

I have just had an offer accepted and it was all done by phone. At least then you know it is being dealt with and things move faster.
I'm interested in what people think about the property being taken off the market. Similar to lolavix, the EA told me it was company policy to only remove the property when the survey is done. I have all my finance in place and feel a bit put out by this. Maybe I should have been more assertive when I made the offer but what do people think?
I felt the same as I have had mortgage agreed, solicitor ready to go etc. I have checked with other local agents and they operate on the same basis.
Very frustrating to think someone may come in with a higher offer though!0 -
I think I might try and get the survey booked tomorrow for asap and then phone the EA again and see if they will at least mark it under offer. At the very least, they shouldn't be doing viewings, surely?
Lolavix - have you booked your survey and how long is it going to take?0 -

Our EA works on the basis that once the offer is accepted, the property comes off the market. If the 'buyer' hasn;t arranged a survey within a week or so then the house goes back on.
To me this seems fair for both sides of the transaction. Why should the potential buyer carry all the risk? (of a higher offer arriving in the meantime)0 -
Just phoned the EA and the vendor has agreed to stop all viewings for 2 weeks and assuming survey is sorted in that time, then they will remove it from the market.
Apparently they had someone booked in today which they are cancelling, so could have been a close call.
Thanks all for the advice! lolavix, maybe you should get on to your EA?0
