Used Debit Card for bookies, money deposited but not debited?

Over the last couple of days I have deposited money from my debit card into Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and Betfair. The money was credited to each account no problems (ie. not declined etc.) yet logging on to my online bank account the money is still there with no evidence of any transactions in the last couple of days.

Is this normal? I thought debit card payments left your account straight away?

Thanks.

Your "available balance" has probably been adjusted. The money will leave your account in the next day or so, don't you worry.

Don't be hard on yourself - - an idiot would have spent the money again and then come on here and complained that they had been ripped off by their bank.;)

If I'm honest what do you call someone depositing money to a bookie?

    Answer on post 4 LOL

They always win in the end.

Yes, they win from idiots. However, no way does this mean that all their customers are idiots. In fact they always lose to clever people, hate them and spend resources on detecting them as early as possible and shutting down their accounts. Have you ever heard of Matched Betting?
    Indeed LOL.
  • As soon as the payment is authorised it'll be ready for you to wager but it takes a few days for settlement to be requested via the Visa card payment system which is when it appears as a debit on your account.
