Someones Lying

Hi there
I am now 14 weeks into the house buying process we are FTB and ready to go we were told that last week we would be exchanging contracts but that didn't happen so we rang our Sol who told us the Vendors had instructred their Sol to halt proceedings until they were ready to proceed? and they had the vendors contracts on file for when they were ready.
As you can imagine we were not happy so we rang EA and told him when he rang back he said that the vendors are just as eager to move as we are and they have the contracts with them at home and posting them first thing in the morning.
So
Who do i beleive ? i'm getting really frustrated/angry/upset i cannot last any longer at my MIL:mad:
My Sol does not help he keeps suggesting we should threaten to pull out but i'm really not that sort of person.

HELP PLEASE

If the EA is telling you the truth, the exchange should be imminent - all the vendor has to do is sign the contracts and return them to their solicitor.
It's truth or consequences time for the vendor and his EA - set a reasonable deadline for exchange e.g with 7 days - tell them if exchange hasn't taken place by then you will pull out of the sale - this should concentrate their minds.
