Ice Save - New Account help plz

i opened an account yesterday and said i would transfer money through the direct debit thing on the signup screen.......

it then mentioned paying money in via chaps/bacs..... which i ignored.

i thought i opened the account with my initial deposit via direct debit? or do i initiate a direct debit once the account is open?

when will i need money in my bank account for this direct debit to go through for the amount i chose at setup? Its confusing

Confused!

I doubt if any payment has been made.
From memory, when I opened my Icesave account I had to wait for details etc to be sent to me and them send them back before they could set up a DD. I think you also have the option to send them a cheque for your first deposit but all this should be in your welcome pack.

Make sure the money is in your current (linked) account when you initiate the DD via the Icesave account.

    Hope this helps.

When I opened my Icesave account it was all done online without any problems, I was not asked to send any ID nor a cheque, I just did a bank transfer from my normal current bank account.

If you are not sure about the opening deposit I would just give them a ring to check. :)

Basically you do not need any initial deposit.

They will open your account without any initial deposit and send you full details. When you receive this welcome letter, you will have the username/password to be able to log-in into your account and select whenever you want a transfer from one of your nominated accounts.
Even then there is no fixed requirement or date.

Of course the sooner as you transfer money the earlier you start gaining interest.
You need to have the money ready in the nominated account on the day you request the online transfer into Icesave (the first time; then you can also check exact transfer times and adjust for the following ones).
